ONE OF THOSE PROJECTS IS PLANTING A NEW TREE. THE WAY THIS PROGRAM WORKS IS THAT THE TREES ARE PROVIDED COMPLETELY FOR FREE TO THE RESIDENT. IF THEY DECIDE TO PARTICIPATE. WE'LL USE A VARIETY OF OUTREACH TOOLS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE PROGRAM AND GAIN INTEREST AND WORK WITH THEM TO GET A TREE ON THEIR PROPERTY. AND IT ALSO WILL INVOLVE ON SITE CONSULTATIONS SO THAT WE KNOW THEY ARE AWARE OF WHAT THEY'RE SIGNING UP FOR IN TERMS OF CARING FOR THE TREE, AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A GOOD, BENEFICIAL LOCATION WHERE A TREE CAN BE SUCCESSFUL. THAT NUMBER 62 PUTS US IN A HIGH NEED CATEGORY. IT ACTUALLY COMES OUT AS NUMBER 63 OUT OF 67 OF THE AREAS IN LEWISVILLE. SO PRETTY FAR DOWN THE LIST SHOWS A GREAT NEED THERE. THE TREE CANOPY COVERAGE IS ONLY 13% IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, AND THAT DATA GETS LINED UP WITH CENSUS TRACT DATA THAT ILLUSTRATES THAT THESE PEOPLE NEED TREES LIKE YESTERDAY. AND ALSO IT CONTAINS CENTENNIAL DRIVE. SO THAT'S COOL THAT IT CAN BE OUR FIRST ONE IN OUR CENTENNIAL YEAR. PROGRAM LOGISTICS.
